A nasty brawl between two irate ostriches was broken up by the mature bull elephant in Tᴀɴᴢᴀɴɪᴀ’s Tarangire National Park. In April of last year, footage emerged of the big birds kicking each other viciously as their quarrel heated up.

A massive bull elephant started to get ᴄʟᴏsᴇr to have a better look at what was making the noise as the ostriches locked feathers. The majestic beast approached the couple and silently observed them for a short while.

But as he started flaring his ears, it was evident he had decided their argument was more than just a little irritation. According to Joyce Poole, a scientist and conservationist who stuᴅɪᴇᴅ elephant body language, widening one’s ears is a sign of hostility.

But the ostriches didn’t appear to catch the message since they kept ғɪɢʜᴛing. The elephant decided to up the ante and let out a powerful trumpeting roar before racing at the quarreling duo as if to scream “enough is enough.” The conflict was abruptly resolved as the wrecked birds logically dispersed.
